Prerequisite(s): WRIT 106 or HONP 101. Restriction(s): Sophomore level or higher; and must be enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS). This is a 3-credit course for majors in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. This course is designed to help students start the process of career planning and development in a way that is structured and strategic. Emphasis is placed on helping students connect their values, skills, and interests to career fields and opportunities. The course will also focus on the value of a liberal arts education and applicability of transferable skills to a wide range of careers. As a result of this course, students will create professional documents such as resumes, cover letters, and portfolios. Students will also walk away with a career development plan and a deeper understanding of the job search process from networking and exploration to negotiation and acceptance of job offers.
