Prerequisite(s): ECON 101. Restriction(s): Major or minor within SBUS. This course introduces students to the structure and operations of the depository institutions and the Federal Reserve System of the United States. It provides a systematic analysis of the money supply process and the economic role of money and credit in the economy. The course delves into the role and operation of monetary and fiscal policies in the United States and other large economies such as the European Union. This course is useful for students interested in careers in economics, banking and finance as well as for those planning to pursue higher education (MA, MPA, MBA degree programs).
