Introduction to Literature: The Short Story

This course will examine the genre of the short story and will include a focus on close reading, an analysis of narrative technique, and a consideration of historical context. The course will primarily focus on American authors but may also include representative examples from other literary traditions, including works in translation. Students will also develop and enhance their skills in academic writing by composing and revising essays in response to assigned readings. Meets Gen Ed - Communication: Literature.
