News Reporting II-Wi

This course stresses government, education, event, and deadline news writing and reporting. Students learn how to report, write in journalistic style on deadline, and how to deal with sources. Students choose beats such as politics or health, and report on that beat throughout the semester. Students will write a range of articles throughout the semester, including stories about local government, school boards, crime, courts, weather, breaking news and events. The course is heavily focused on writing for all in-class and out-of-class assignments, and directs students to understand what is "good" or "acceptable" in the journalistic community. Social media, photos and video are incorporated in to assignments.
