Impact and Intersections of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Trauma

This course examines the physiological, neurobiological, psychological, and social impact of traumatic stress on the mind, body, and social environment and the integration of this framework in addictions and mental health treatment. There will be a focus on strengths-based practice and the identification of protective factors that foster resiliency . This course also addresses use of trauma informed practices to effectively support individuals and families across the lifespan.
