Prerequisite: Introduction to Drawing (ARTV 1162 or ARTV 1166), Introduction to 3D Design (ARTV 1169 or ARTV 1168) and (ARTV 2270 or ARTV 2265), and (ARTV 2920 or ARTV Portfolio Review Y) or equivalent experience with Photoshop. Formerly titled 3-D Computer Graphics. Arts course (A). This course focuses on standard modeling methods as well as various texture mappings, environmental effects, and rendering methods. The course starts with understanding primitive shapes, xyz coordinates, image resolution; distance and perspective; geometry (primitives); and visual and numerical manipulations. It progresses to package prototyping, and scene and character design. Visual spatial recognition, sketching, model construction, and rendering to achieve virtual realism are the main goals in this course. No prior experience with 3D software is required.
