PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY I

DESCRIPTION: An examination of the laws of classical thermodynamics, followed by applications to the properties of gases, liquids, and solids, as well as to solutions, phase transformations, and chemical equilibria. Also includes discussions of chemical kinetics including reaction rates, rate laws, and reaction mechanisms. PREREQUISITES: (CHEM 2110 and CHEM 2115 and CHEM 2120 and CHEM 2125 and CHEM 2140) and (MATH 2215 or MATH 2210) and (Undergraduate level PHYS 2110 Minimum Grade of C- and Undergraduate level PHYS 2120 Minimum Grade of C-) or (Undergraduate level PHYS 2220 Minimum Grade of C- and Undergraduate level PHYS 2230 Minimum Grade of C-) COREQUISITES: None RESTRICTIONS: None ATTRIBUTES: May be offered in sections with a Q2 designation
