ENVIRONMENTAL LAW

This focus of this survey course on environmental law is the federal environmental regulatory system. The regulatory, enforcement and compliance assistance components of this system will be discussed in depth. Lectures will provide students with provide students with an introduction to a number of federal environmental statutes, including: the Clean Air Act; Clean Water Act; CERCLA; and RCRA. The interplay between federal and state environmental laws and requirements will also be discussed. A recurring theme will be the role that environmental professionals play as part of the interaction between governmental regulators and members of the regulated community.
