Introductory course in writing for the motion picture screen concentrating on the principles and techniques of writing for film and television. Students discover, explore and analyze all the elements that make a successful, professional screenplay, both narrative and dramatic, including form and function. Among these various elements are story, character dialogue, the nature and interaction of shot scene and sequence, structure and visualization. Writing experiments and their analysis and discussion is integral. The creation of a successful professional quality short screenplay is required.
