GENOCIDE AND CULTURAL LOSS

OPEN ONLY TO JUNIORS AND SENIORS. In this course students will learn about the roles of cultural destructions and theft as key aspects of genocide. They will examine how perpetrators use skewed laws to erase the cultural footprints or representations, of a victim group and to steal that group’s wealth and possessions. In addition, students will examine how survivors and their descendants have pursued justice after their culture is decimated in the wake of genocide and how we can draw on their experiences for the purposes of future genocide prevention goals.
