POLITICS AND ADVOCACY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

The course uses higher education as a case to examine in depth principles related to politics and public policy advocacy. A policy shift to treat college as a private, rather than public good creates tension about who attends college, how it is financed and accountable, and its priority on the public agenda. The course focuses how national and state politics, public policy and opinion interact to achieve policy goals.
