ISLAM AND EASTERN CHRISTIANITY

Historical consciousness course (H). This course examines the historical interactions of Muslims and Eastern Christians from the earliest development of Islam in the seventh-century to the present. Focus will be on the variety of Christian beliefs among the Greek Orthodox, Coptic, Nestorian, Pre-Chalcedonian Christians and their relationship with their Muslim neighbors in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and the Balkans.
