ADVANCED SEMINAR IN HISTORY: POWER

Prerequisite: Open to juniors and seniors only. Permission of Instructor Required. HIST 2129 is recommended but not required. Historical consciousness course (H). The advanced seminar in history on power examines the way political authority is established, organized, and implemented in cities, states, nations, and empires. It stresses research strategies: hypothesis formation, historiographical searches, the collection and assembling of evidence, the formulation of generalizations, and the assessment of the significance of research.
