This practicum provides a clinical setting for the integration of classroom material presented in Adult I, II and III, with a focus on primary care of the older adult. Emphasis will be place on differential diagnoses and appropriate treatment modalities. Roy’s Adaptation Model will serve as the theoretical framework for this course. 10% of the clinical hours (16 hours) can be accomplished by attending pre-approved continuing education conference(s). Students must submit a written critique on the conference. Clinical experience is facilitated through a preceptor model in which preceptors MUST be a licensed physician (MD or DO) in the state of New Jersey or a nurse practitioner (NP) that is nationally certified as an ANP/AGPCNP/FNP and licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey. Concurrent enrollment in Adult II NURS 5424) is required. At least 168 hours must be spent in clinical areas with preceptor supervision. Students are expected to arrange times and dates with clinical preceptors. Faculty: Staff
