FOUNDATIONS OF GENERAL PRACTICE

This course consists of foundational clinical skills and interventions administered by occupational therapists in clinical settings. Course includes the therapeutic relationship, medical interviews and the components of documentation, body mechanics and ergonomics, basic mobility, physical modalities, positioning and draping, massage and edema management, wounds, family training and health literacy, discharge planning, home exercise programs, basic components of teaching and learning, integrative therapy, and telehealth. Lecture and class activities/ labs prepare students to gain foundational skills required for direct patient care. This course is offered Fall only.
