BASIC ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

(Same as ENVL 2530.) This is a survey course intended to give students a basic understanding of the field of environmental health, specifically, how environmental factors impact the health of individuals and the community, and of the efforts made to prevent or minimize the negative health effects. The course is designed to acquaint the student with the scientific and technical foundations of the field an examines both the practice of environmental health and the problems which are addressed by the practioners in this career discipline. Topics covered include physical, chemical, biological and psychosocial exposures, regulatory agencies and functions, as well as economic and global social contexts. Faculty: M. JAUREGUI
