HISTORY OF SOCIAL WELFARE POLICY

Prerequisites: SOWK 1101 and SOWK 1103. Open only to juniors and seniors. Corequisite: SOWK 3604. Historical consciousness course (H). This course focuses on the interests of the profession of social work in the development of social policy at national, state, and local levels of government. It examines the historical development of social work and social policy in the United States, considers the English influence on United States experience, and compares United States policies and programs with those of other nations.
